Seth
Wotten double checked his gear before saddling up and paddling out of the
Sailing Club at Bellevue Park yesterday.
Wotten, who left Montreal April 15, is canoeing to the far northwestern
end of Canada.
He plans on finishing in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories.
His choosen route should keep him paddling well into 2007.
Wotten, with help from Brian Christie and the Lake Superior Conservancy
and Watershed Council, spent two nights in the Sault.
He also spent one much-needed day of rest here in Sault Ste. Marie.
Wotten's next stop will be in Michipicoten for food pick-up.
Wotten, who is familiar with canoeing on Lake Superior, is looking forward
to his stint in Northern Ontario while getting his message across to the
country.
"I hope to raise awareness about water-related environmental issues,
but more so to convince people to take action for water."
