The St. Mary's River Races are a great way of mastering or improving your sailing skills and a fun way of meeting others Sailors later after the races are over back at the Clubhouse. There are different courses used on the river that depending on the wind condition. This provides for a challenging raceway with different current flows, directions, and wind tunnels that can make a race fast or slow.

Algoma Sailing Club Guidelines and Rules:

  • The race course will be decided before each race at a skipper's meeting at 6:20 pm.

  • Additional crew may be available at the skipper's meeting.

  • The Start Gun will be 7:00pm preceded by a 10 minute and a 5 minute warning.

  • All races start and end from the bouy can line in the river just south the Clubhouse past Topsail Island

  • The Racing Rules are now included in the ASC Binder (Section: Bi-Laws) and a copy for viewing is available in the clubhouse.
